Hello OhioDIG!

My co-researcher (Kelley Rowan, FIU) and I are currently writing on the topic of ethical access in digital libraries for an upcoming monograph under ACRL (tentatively to be published in Fall 2026).

We are looking for real-world examples of how institutions and practitioners consider and review potential ethical issues, particularly when dealing with sensitive collections or content, during the project proposal phase. If you are able to share any information, workflows or processes that we can use in our project, please drop us a note.

If you are able to share any information about your process concerning ethical issues and how to handle them as they arise, such as using a standing working group for review, consulting with leadership/administration, contacting legal, or the use of forms/contracts, that would be appreciated.

Any information or documentation you can share with us would be most appreciated, and please let us know when you share if we would have permission to summarize, share, or reproduce, in part or in whole, in our book. If you would prefer to schedule a time to chat via Teams or Zoom in lieu of email, let us know as well.

Thanks for considering!

-Virginia and Kelley
