Call for Volunteers for Ohio Preservation Council (OPC) Interest Group Chairs

Dear Colleagues,

The OPC leadership is opening a call for interest group chairs with an interest in Physical Conservation, Imaging Processes and Digital Preservation, or Preservation Administration to lead our three interest groups. All levels of professional experience are welcome.

We are looking for chairs with a willingness to proactively facilitate meetings and an interest in group success. You do not need to be an expert!

Chairs will:

  *
Schedule regular meetings (at least quarterly) set agendas and facilitate discussion.
  *
Help recruit interest group members by sharing meeting information with your network.
  *
Share updates about interest group activities with the OPC membership at Quarterly meetings.

The interest group chairs and members will be able to choose their own adventure by taking a broad or narrow approach to the themes they wish to explore. Below are some ideas that got the most traction in the recent survey:

Physical Conservation

Conservation treatment
     *
Book structures and model making
     *
Exhibit preparation
  2.
Imaging Processes and Digital Preservation
     *
Digital preservation strategies for born digital and digitized collections
     *
Specialized imaging techniques
     *
Handling (physical or digital) best practices
  3.
Preservation Administration
     *
Disaster prep and response
     *
Facilities (Library facilities issues/best practices/conservation lab space needs etc.)
     *
Preservation assessments
     *
Commercial binding

We hope that the interest groups will foster community, encourage the exchange of knowledge and skills, and offer more ways for OPC members to support their colleagues' preservation goals.
