For VRA Virtual Conference 2026: Zooming In<https://www.vraweb.org/annual-conference>, Noah Thompson and Ann McShane are curating a series of virtual tours of digitization spaces. To make the best of the online conference format, we want to collect as many tours from as many different places as possible. That includes your space!


Big institutions and small, imaging specialists and solo professionals, first timers and long timers: we want to see how and where you digitize. All are welcome to contribute to this tour collection.

To add your short digitization space tour to the playlist:

  *   Record a short video of your digitization space, ideally under five minutes.

  *   Upload your video to youtube<https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/57407> either publicly or unlisted.

  *   Fill out the participant form<https://forms.gle/T454yBg1t8whrVS5A>, including a link to your video.

Why should I take part in this?
The spaces where digitization takes place are often private – dark rooms away from patrons. Our work can seem invisible. That doesn’t mean we’re alone, though. We want to invite people to see our spaces as an entry point to talking about our work. We also hope this will help in making connections to our colleagues in other workplaces. Please contribute a tour.


What if my space doesn’t follow best practices?

Don’t worry – Ann’s space is imperfect, too! To be honest, we expect that’s true of just about everyone. Let’s compare notes about best practices versus real-life conditions. Please contribute a tour.


What if I dislike my digitization space and want to shame it?

That is a valid reason for creating and sharing a tour. Please contribute a tour.


What if I’ve never presented before?

VRA is a small conference and a great place to practice presenting. It’s a good group. Plus, tours are pre-recorded, meaning you can choose the style of presentation that best suits you. Please contribute a tour.


What if I’m a student/retired/etc.?

You sound cool and I bet you would make a great tour guide. Please contribute a tour.


Why Youtube?

We wanted a video platform that has a low barrier to entry, allows unlisted links, and lets the tour guides stay in control of their own videos. Making a Youtube playlist seemed like the best way to cover each of those. Please contribute a tour.
