Subject: [External] Virtual Public Domain Day celebration on January 21
Colleagues,
I wanted to share a virtual Public Domain Day celebration the Internet Archive is co-hosting on January 21 with Creative Commons, Duke Law's Center for the Study of the Public Domain, Authors Alliance, and Public Knowledge.
The Case of the Disappearing Copyright: Virtual Public Domain Day 2026
January 21, 10:00-11:30am PT
Info & registration: https://blog.archive.org/event/the-case-of-the-disappearing-copyright-virtual-public-domain-day-2026/
This year, we're celebrating creative works from 1930 and sound recordings from 1925 entering the public domain in the U.S. With iconic detectives like Nancy Drew, Miss Marple, and Sam Spade joining the Class of 2026, we're taking on a mystery theme for the event: "The Case of the Disappearing Copyright"
The program kicks off with a live pre-show musical performance interpreting newly public-domain classics, including "Georgia on My Mind" and "Dream a Little Dream of Me."
If you can't attend live, register to receive a link to the event recording.
Hope to see many of you there!
Chris
