Description

Resource description in the library world goes beyond MARC metadata into a litany of alternative metadata schemas, especially when it comes to digital objects. If you're responsible for digital collections, tackling metadata for your library, or looking for new ways to optimize the discoverability of your non-print collection, attend this session to learn more about one of the most widely known metadata initiatives.

Attendees of this session will have the opportunity to...

  *   Explore the background and history behind Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI)Introduction to Dublin Core
  *   Learn the metadata tags for simple and qualified DC elements
  *   Examine and explore tools for utilizing Dublin Core
  *   Discover resources and workflows for getting started

This is an introductory course, and no prior experience is needed.
