DPLA sent the following update to the DPLA Network Council on the upcoming transition of leadership to Cleveland Public Library. They also published it on their website. Currently, our harvest and publishing procedures remain the same for the Ohio Digital Network Metadata on the dp.la website. Please let me know if you have any questions I bring to the DPLA Network Council Meeting.

Please see our biweekly updates below. As usual, this update is also published on our web site<https://dp.la/about/a-new-home-for-americas-digital-heritage#updates>:
* We are finalizing a formal announcement of what we previewed with you at our Summit last fall-- that Cleveland Public Library will assume leadership for the project starting in July, and that four foundations (Sloan, MacArthur, Mellon and Ford) have contributed $3.25 million to support that work. Thank you to everyone who helped us to get to this point.
* Cleveland will maintain the work steady state, with current staff, through December, and will begin a search for a project leader.
* A national steering committee is being formed to guide the work. It will be led by chair Tom Fay, CEO of The Seattle Public Library and vice chair Mandy Knapp, State Librarian of Ohio. Other initial members include Priscilla Suero, of the Free Library of Philadelphia, and Marcia Walker-McWilliams, of the Tulane History Project and a DPLA Board Member. Additional members will be added in the weeks ahead, as will details about its charge, timeline and ways to be involved.
* We expect you might get questions from your own partners, and there are many details to work out. This announcement does not alter the timeline DPLA has previously communicated, with the plan being to transition leadership of the aggregation work by July 1. Together, we will still need to build out the new collaborative structure that will sustain the cultural heritage program going forward. For now, we invite you to connect with us and send your questions<mailto:network at dp.la> our way as we work on an FAQ.
* Also, on Feb 5, we shared that Joe Lucia, Dean of Libraries at Temple University, is the new DPLA Board of Directors chair. Lucia has served on DPLA’s board since 2021, and takes over for Felton Thomas, whose term expired.
We are less than a month away from the next Network Council meeting on March 5th. We look forward to coming together then and continuing to discuss this new partnership. As a reminder, all 2026 membership dues have been waived for hubs during this transition, and we invite any hub, regardless of past payment status, to join us at Network Council meetings.
Thanks!
Dominic
