Hi everyone,

The annual preservation section meeting is here! Join us on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM Eastern Time (US & Canada) for "Preservation in the Digital Era: Resources, Strategies, and Real-World Implementation."

This year's meeting will center on the digital dimensions of archival preservation. As stewardship responsibilities expand, preservation concerns increasingly include the need to protect both born-digital and digitized materials.

Following a brief section update, a panel of representatives-moderated by Section Chair Peter Botticelli-will share perspectives on how their respective programs, tools, and communities support preservation professionals in addressing these challenges. Panelists will highlight practical resources, collaborative networks, training opportunities, and advocacy strategies that help institutions strengthen digital stewardship capacity.

>From seasoned digital preservation specialists to archivists expanding into new stewardship roles, all are welcome-come learn, connect, and contribute to the conversation.

Panelists:

  *   Jessica Chapel (Boston Public Library) - Chief of Digital & Online Services, leading large-scale digitization and digital preservation initiatives.
  *   Chelsea Denault (Michigan Digital Preservation Network) - Coordinator of MDPN, focused on building accessible, community-centered digital preservation services.
  *   Kirk Mudle (DPOE-N) - Program Manager for the Digital Preservation Outreach & Education Network and active leader in advocacy and moving image archiving.
