[cid:image004.jpg at 01DBF02F.5C64A330]We are pleased to announce Drew Wichterman is now the Board President for the State Library Board. Drew ascends to the role with over a decade of experience in public libraries, including his current position as Director of the Pickaway County Library. He is known for his dedication to all community members, demonstrated through innovative programming at his library and professional development initiatives for library staff.

Drew coordinated numerous local, state, and national grants. He secured funding from the State Library for programs such as Guiding Ohio Online, CARES Act Mini-Grant, Summer Reading, and Celebrating Ohio Books Awards and Authors prior to joining the Board.

Drew is a proud alumnus of Library Leadership Ohio and actively contributes to the library profession in various capacities. He is an active member of the Ohio Library Council, serving in multiple leadership roles and on professional development committees. Most recently, he is the 2025 OLC Convention and Expo Chair. Additionally, as the Advocacy Co-Chair for the Association for Rural and Small Libraries, he promotes the interests and needs of small and rural libraries through advocacy and educational efforts. His professional involvement also includes previous committee service for the American Library Association and Public Library Association, as well as roles on the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Advisory Council and as an Audie Awards Judge. He earned a Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Muskingum University.

Drew Wichterman was appointed to the State Library of Ohio Board by the State Board of Education of Ohio and was sworn in on January 20, 2022.

Please join us in our heartfelt appreciation to Janet Carleton for her committed leadership as Board President over the last two and a half years. Janet guided the State Library Board through important management transitions, including the appointment of former State Librarian Beverly Cain as Interim State Librarian in 2024 and leading the search and selection process for our current State Librarian, Mandy Knapp. Janet was recently appointed to another term on the Board and will continue serve as a valued member until the end of 2029.
