David,
We're using Microsoft Word's transcription software to transcribe our oral history audio files as suggested in a recent OhioDIG meeting. It isn't perfect, but does a reasonable job and then we just do a quick quality control check to correct an issue with proper nouns (volunteers are working on this). Only challenge is that there is a monthly cap on the amount you can transcribe for free, but that's really only an issue while we catch up on a backlog, and it just means we're spreading out the timeline to complete that process.

We are currently using ABBYY FineReader, but have been notified that the Office of Disability Services will no longer be using it. We are exploring options for document remediation. What are you using (especially for PDFs)?

We use Adobe Acrobat (pro) for remediation. Happy to pass along some of our internal documentation on how we remediate PDFs that our digital accessibility experts in IT created.
