[Ohiodig] Sharepoint for Digitization

Hi All,

Although we have yet to utilize it for any specific projects, we have been exploring MS Lists for use in similar tracking scenarios. In addition to being powered by SharePoint lists on the backend, it also allows for customization via Power Automate and Power Apps.

If your O365 licensing already includes SharePoint then it is likely that your tenant admins could provide access to it.

Food for thought anyways,

Hi Rachel and Nathan,

I'm just seeing this now. I am interested, too. We are using Sharepoint + MS Forms, but it isn't intuitive or as automated as we would like. I'm working on an alternative since the Library Systems staff member who put the original one together has left CSU. Flow might be an option.

I'd like to be part of the discussion if possible.

Thanks,
Marsha

Hey Nathan,

I think it would be great to get a zoom meeting together! I'm in the beginning stages so I'm very curious what everyone is doing. I;ve had some people reach out personally as well who are interested. Maybe we can get an informal get together of interested parties to chat about it and, if we find it's valuable, we can make something happen officially with an OhioDIG meeting (I have 0 authority on this so planning committee thoughts????).

Nice to hear from you!

Hi Rachel,

This is similar to what we’re currently doing at Penn State and we’re working toward the same goal of fuller automation. There’s a lot of powerful low-code/no-code options to automate in the Microsoft 365 suite. Happy to chat more about it over Zoom sometime, but not this or next week!

Cheers,

Nathan

Subject: [Ohiodig] Sharepoint for Digitization

Hi Everyone!

My institution is considering using Microsoft Forms with SharePoint lists and Microsoft Flow to create a workflow for digitization requests and building in an approval queue. Since this is something on the table, I'm also looking into using SharePoint lists as a way to manage digitization projects and inventories and incorporating it into the request workflow.

Has anyone used SharePoint to manage projects or digitization requests? I remember at the Project Management presentation a while ago it was brought up but I'm curious if anyone is still using it since then or has implemented something since that meeting.

OR if someone is using some other system they really like, I'm open to suggestions. Our two main goals is: 1) We need the approval queue for requests and 2) our eventual project management system will need the ability to run reports on the inventories/projects we're working on.

Any help is very much appreciated!

Rachel
