Job Summary
            The Document Indexer will assist the Records Manager with processing Intake Department files or Major Unusual Incident Department Files for the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The Document Indexer will work to scan and then index physical files so that Service Coordinators will be able to access records digitally through their laptops or other devices in the community. This position offers the opportunity to learn about special libraries, digitization, unique classification systems and public sector/government work.

This is a full-time job, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm. The position is temporary but will be funded at least through 2018 with the possibility of further employment afterwards.

Responsibilities

  *   Learn and consistently follow indexing rules
  *   Break down physical case files
  *   Create high-quality document images
  *   Ensure high accuracy in indexing
  *   Work effectively in a group with the Records Manager and other indexers
  *   Provide excellent customer service to departmental staff
  *   Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards

Required Qualifications

  *   Bachelor’s Degree
  *   Very strong computer skills (Windows-based systems)
  *   Some cataloging/indexing knowledge
  *   Excellent analytical skills
  *   Excellent written and oral communication

Preferred Qualifications

  *   MLIS Degree
  *   Coursework or practical experience with indexing
  *   Prior experience with content management systems
  *   Experience scanning documents

Compensation

  *   Pay is $13.50 per hour


FCBDD Background
            The Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities operates a county agency providing direct or contracted services on a daily basis. The Board provides educational, employment and support services to children and adults of all ages, who have developmental disabilities.

Services are provided in early childhood programs, schools, ARC Industries facilities, and in a variety of other settings where support is needed. Similar to public schools, most services are provided at no cost and are supported by local, state and federal funds. Services are provided to residents of Franklin County who meet the eligibility requirements.
