Amy,

Any of the digital hubs may have taken on a consulting role regarding digitization in public libraries.

The public library down there has some smart people who might offer some advice.

Some of the other hubs may have someone who might/could take this on.

State Library is right there in Columbus and has some wonderful equipment and smart people.

Ohio History Connection, too.

Capital is a member of OhioNet -- maybe OhioNet could help? They were also involved in the DPLA. They are also in Columbus.

I'm suggesting that Capital might do some old fashioned library visiting and networking to see what the several digi-labs there in Columbus are up to, and then chart a course for themselves based on what they see.

Subject: [Ohiodig] Collection evaluation and project planning assistance needed

I received an inquiry from Capital University’s library about assistance with planning a digitization project. Do any of you do project planning and consultation, or can you recommend someone? Here’s a brief description of the project from Rachel Rubin, Director of Library and Information Services:

“Capital University is just beginning to think about the digitization and preservation of our archives, photographs, and publications. A scanner was recently purchased, but before we put the cart before the horse we will need assistance evaluating the collection and creating a scope and plan for a comprehensive digitization initiative.”

Thanks in advance,

Amy
