This is good to know! We also have an RG3040, purchased in 2018. I've not had any concerns with the column but while troubleshooting an unrelated issue, the DT support team noticed in a photo that the lower limit switch on our unit was defective. It's a safety
mechanism to prevent the camera from moving too low but doesn't otherwise affect performance. I'm not sure when the damage would have occurred but it looks like the metal tab is out of alignment. I swore off the automated camera positioning years ago after
a bad experience, so our use of the limit switch is not as crucial as it would be for some.

Digital Transitions recently announced that they are ending support for their RG series of copy stands on January 1, 2027:

"Originally introduced in 2007, the RG series has served cultural heritage institutions around the world for nearly two decades. This End of Support announcement applies to all RG3040 and RGC180 systems and related accessories and components, including Kaiser
columns.

After January 1, 2027, Digital Transitions will no longer provide technical support, service, repairs, replacement parts, or workflow assistance for RG series equipment, including Kaiser columns and other associated hardware components.

Current-generation Digital Transitions systems, including BC100, Titan, Element, Atom, and Versa platforms, are not affected by this announcement. Cameras, lighting systems, software, and other actively supported Digital Transitions products will continue to
receive service and support, even when installed on an RG series system.?

We are using an RG3040 here at OSU and I?m wondering realistically how often these things really need support/service/repairs. Is anyone else using one of these and have you had any service needs over its lifetime?
