The Society of Ohio Archivists is partnering with the Ohio Local History Alliance for the fall meeting, We the People: America 250. Join us on October 2-3, 2026, at Quest Conference Center<https://www.quest-centers.com/> in Columbus, Ohio.
Registration is now open<https://www.ohiohistorystore.com/collections/olha-events/products/2026-ohio-local-history-alliance-annual-meeting-registration> through September 18! SOA members can register at the member rate. The theme is We the People: America 250; intended to highlight the ways we've come together to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary and how we can continue that spirit of history in community for the future.
The SOA track will take place on Friday, October 2 and will feature the following sessions:
* 9-9:50am: #Archives: Using Social Media to Engage Communities with Archives and Collections, Grace Freeman & Grayson Kelly, Columbus Metropolitan Library
* 10:10-11am: Getting Started on a Shoestring: Digitization on a Dime, Michael Providenti, Northern Kentucky University, Gideon McDaniel, Dayton Metro Library
* 11:20am-12:10pm: Graceful in Grief: Experiences in Archival Trauma, Michelle Ganz, Dominican Sisters of Peace, Sarah Aisenbrey, Sisters of the Precious Blood, Sarah Lubelski, Women Religious Archives Collaborative
* 12:30-1:45pm: Lunch & Keynote Address, John E. Hancock on a Traveler's Guide to Ancient Ohio
* 2-2:50pm: Inheriting Archives as Lone Arrangers, Jenna Kish, Ohio Genealogical Society, Other Presenters to be announced
* 3:10-4pm: We the People: Ohio LGBTQ+ Archival Perspectives and Projects, Tony Pankuch, Akron LGBTQ+ Archive Initiative, Nancy Yerian, Ohio Lesbian Archives, Sara Mouch, University of Toledo
