Topic:
Learn about key objective and subjective image quality metrics that are part of designing camera systems. This talk will discuss typical image quality factors that are used to specify, tune, and benchmark cameras, including means for incorporating the human visual system and perception to maximize photographic output.
Bio:
Jonathan B. Phillips is Executive Director of the Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T). Prior to joining IS&T, Phillips held positions at Google, Nvidia, Kodak, and Imatest, where he worked on numerous camera systems, including launching the Google Pixel smartphone camera. Phillips is the co-author of numerous technical papers, patents, IEEE and ISO photography standards, and his book, Camera Image Quality Benchmarking, which is part of the Wiley-IS&T Series in Imaging Science and Technology. In 2023, Phillips received an RIT Distinguished Alumni Award.
