Dear iPRES community,
Apologies if you’ve already received this.
One panel at iPRES 2025 was intentionally not recorded so that the panelists could engage freely, without concern about their words being captured on video. The session, “Beyond the Consumer Perspective: Engaging Cloud Providers in Digital Preservation,” followed on from an iPRES 2024 panel that focused on GLAM-sector perspectives on preservation in the cloud. This year, we brought storage providers directly into the conversation.
A summary blog post is now available, outlining the key themes that emerged, including portability and exit strategies, sovereignty, sustainability, resilience, and a shared willingness from providers to act as partners in ensuring the safety and longevity of digital heritage:
https://ipres-conference.org/2026/02/27/in-conversation-with-storage-providers-at-ipres-2025/
This post is also the first to be published using the new blog feature on the refreshed iPRES conference series website: https://ipres-conference.org/
The blog is intended not only for the iPRES Steering Group, but for the wider digital preservation community to share iPRES-related reflections, research, and ideas. The aim is to keep the iPRES conversation active throughout the year and not just during the annual conference.
Many thanks to the iPRES Communications Subgroup (https://ipres-conference.org/steering-group/sub-groups/) for revising the conference series website and launching this new blog feature. Stay tuned for more information on how you can contribute your own iPRES-related article.
Ngā mihi nui / Warm regards,
