Manuscript Data Curation Fellow Job Opening
The University of Pennsylvania Libraries seeks to appoint an early career library professional or postdoctoral researcher for a 22-month Manuscript Data Curation Fellowship to support data creation and metadata management for the DS Catalog.

The Manuscript Data Curation Fellow (MDCF) will work with DS member institutions lacking subject expertise on staff to create structured metadata in the form of DS Catalog records, an open access digital catalog based on linked open data technologies. Under the supervision of the Project Director and the DS Catalog Project and Data Manager (PDM), the Fellow will assess the needs of current and prospective members, carry out basic evaluation and research in collaboration with institution staff, collect and organize information using the DS data model and its documentation to create structured descriptions, and assist in data enrichment and the maintenance of DS authorities to facilitate upload of records into the DS Catalog. The Fellow will also act as a liaison between DS and its members regarding manuscript description practices by conducting direct member outreach in collaboration with the PDM, including presenting online workshops and training sessions with member institution staff.

An important goal of Digital Scriptorium is to broaden representation of and access to premodern manuscripts in North American collections. Applicants with backgrounds in non-Western European manuscript traditions are encouraged to apply.

The MDCF will also contribute to the dissemination of project achievements through participation in relevant conferences and symposia and will be expected to prepare and submit research papers for publication. This position is eligible for hybrid or remote work.

Applications can be submitted through the following link: https://wd1.myworkdaysite.com/recruiting/upenn/careers-at-penn/job/Van-Pelt-Library---6th-Floor/Manuscript-Data-Curation-Fellow_JR00111956<https://digital-scriptorium.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=37f9ae95023508f0bd6901850&id=842df5cc93&e=8f175398c2>

If there are further questions or if applicants would like to discuss the position, please feel free to reach out the Project Director and PDM at dscriptorium2020 at gmail.com<mailto:dscriptorium2020 at gmail.com?subject=2025%20Annual%20Meeting>.

Thank you all for your time and attention, and thank you for being part of the Digital Scriptorium community.

All best,
