Subject: EXT: November 18 Grab-a-Cup Program Announced

>From Terapixels to Senses: Digitizing and Augmenting the Panorama of the Battle of Murten is the topic of our next Grab-a-Cup taking place

Join the eM+, EPFL team as they unpack the story behind their Terapixel Panorama Project, a pioneering work that represents a trio of world-firsts: the first digitized panorama at deep zoom scale, the largest image from a single heritage object, and the world’s first to be augmented with real-time olfaction. The presentation charts the project's full lifecycle, beginning with the technical challenges and innovative imaging workflow developed to achieve this unprecedented scale. It then addresses the crucial next step: building the standard-compliant, sustainable documentation infrastructure required to transform this visual marvel into a permanent, queryable digital twin for scholarly engagement. Finally, the presentation demonstrates how this monumental dataset is brought to life to create new avenues for public access, fostering fun, immersive, and multisensory connections to heritage.

After the presentation Q&A, we’ll move to Open Mic.

Hope to see you there!

Martina and the GaC Team
