Every year, thousands of Ohio students dive into the past-and they need your help to bring history to life. We're looking for judges to join us for the 2025 Ohio History Day contests, happening between February 28 and April 18, 2026.
This year's theme, "Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History," invites students to explore how people, movements and events have challenged the status quo and reshaped their world.
As a judge, your feedback helps students grow as researchers, thinkers and storytellers. You provide the insight that turns a project into a discovery and a presentation into a moment of confidence. Your time and perspective truly make a difference in how students see historyand themselves.

Ready to Register?

To sign up for one or more contests, follow these easy steps:

  1.  Click the "Become a Judge!" button below, pick the date and contest that you'd like to serve as a judge.
  2.  Next, click the "Sign Up" link. This will take you to that contest's registration site.
  3.  From there, create a new account, answer a few questions, specify a category preference and we'll take it from there. No category preference, no problem! We'll find a category that needs your help.
Once you've signed up, we'll provide all the training and materials you need to help guide students. You'll also receive additional details about the schedule, judging process and parking or virtual access closer to the contest date.

Judge FAQ

How Does Judging Work?
Approximately one (1) week prior to your scheduled contest date, you'll receive an email detailing your judge assignments and category information, as well as what to expect the day of the contest. You'll also receive brief pre-orientation materials that should be reviewed prior to your scheduled contest.

What Will I Need?
To be a judge, you'll need an email address and a personal device such as a laptop or tablet (for providing digital feedback). We ask that judges bring their personal electronic devices with them the day of the contest.
