The Digital POWRR<http://digitalpowrr.niu.edu/> team invites applications for our fifth in-person, 2.5-day digital preservation training institute. The fifth Institute will be held May 14-16th at the Suzzallo and Allen Libraries <https://lib.uw.edu/suzzallo/> on the campus of the University of Washington<https://www.washington.edu/> in Seattle, Washington. Due to the generosity of the National Endowment for the Humanities<https://www.neh.gov/>, our Institutes have no registration fees, and travel stipends are available for those with demonstrated financial need.

This institute is the final event funded with POWRR’s current generous funding from the NEH. Further funding is being pursued so that we may continue to offer accessible high quality, in-person training for all cultural heritage practitioners who need it.

An ideal candidate for a POWRR institute fits some of these descriptions:

  * Someone who works directly with collections, including digital materials
  * Someone who has been exposed to basic digital preservation concepts, but struggles with moving from theory to practice
  * Someone starting up a digital preservation program
  * Someone who represents or serves historically underrepresented populations
  * Someone employed by an institution unable to provide professional development funding adequate to attend other digital preservation training opportunities
  * Someone who would benefit from being a part of a small cohort of professionals like themselves, and who will put forth effort into sustaining these professional connections after the end of the Institute
