Do you have moving image materials in your collections that you would love to have seen and shown? Or do you want to start a digitization project but don't know where or how to start? Join us for this Lunch & Learn training session where we'll cover the basics of film preservation and identification, how to prep your film materials for digitization, understanding digitization services and budgets, and discussions to have with vendors for outsourcing. Once you understand the basics shown in the session, you'll have the skills and confidence to work with and outsource your materials for digitization

Presenter: Christina Stewart, Assistant Media Archivist, Media Commons, University of Toronto
Christina Stewart is a film and media archivist at Media Commons Archives, University of Toronto Libraries. A graduate of the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation at George Eastman Museum, she has worked with collections at George Eastman Museum, Northeast Historic Film, Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre, and the Canadian National Exhibition Archives. She has taught film preservation workshops through provincial archival associations across Canada and in graduate programs at the University of Toronto and Toronto Metropolitan University. In 2016, Christina discovered "Secrets of the Night" (1924), a previously lost film directed by Herbert Blaché and released by Universal Studios.
