Subject: CAR program: virtual A/V digitization discussion
To:
Hello all!
CAR’s next event will be a virtual (Zoom) discussion of A/V digitization "wins and woes," which will likely happen later next month (date TBD).
The discussion will involve people from institutions of varying sizes who are responsible for managing A/V digitization projects and can help guide the conversation and answer questions. While this is intended to be a dialogue rather than a presentation, if you are willing to be a highlighted participant and share your institution's circumstances, please let us know so we can name you in the event description.
Everyone attending will be encouraged to share their particular situations involving A/V digitization and ask questions so we can benefit from each other’s experiences, both positive and negative.
If there are specific questions you’d like to submit ahead of time, please feel free to reply to this email. We look forward to a robust chat!
In addition to the logistical questions we plan to cover, some of the broader topics proposed are:
* How have you used your A/V materials to educate the public about the topics that are core to your institution’s mission?
* What kinds of recordings are most important to your institution and why?
* Is there a demand by internal/external parties that warrants the cost to digitize A/V?
* What challenges and opportunities do A/V materials present to your institution?
* What are your most looming concerns, and what would you love to do about it (with unlimited money and time)?
