[Ohiodig] FINAL CALL for SCAig Co-Chair nominations.

The ALAO Special Collections and Archives Interest Group (SCAIG) is still seeking an enthusiastic and committed member to serve as co-chair.



Beginning in July 2023, the new co-chair will work with current co-chair, Miriam Intrator, to promote archives and special collections, as well as develop new professional development opportunities for fellow members of this community. The term is for 2 years, staggered with the other co-chair term, and runs July-June. Nominees may be self-nominated, and must be a member of both ALAO and SCAIG.


Please send expressions of interest to the current co-chairs, Josh Zeller (Joshua.Zeller at msj.edu<mailto:Joshua.Zeller at msj.edu>) and Miriam Intrator (miriam.intrator at ohio.edu<mailto:miriam.intrator at ohio.edu>) by Friday, June 16.


Duties of co-chairs include:

*       Programming the annual SCAIG workshop/conference with a planning committee

*       Attending the annual ALAO board retreat/training in Columbus and quarterly virtual meetings with fellow IG chairs and the ALAO IG coordinator

*       Attending the ALAO annual meeting to engage with interest group members

*       Submitting quarterly reports to the board

*       Submitting updates to the ALAO Newsletter

*       Updating SCAIG's web page

*       Managing the SCAIG Google Group list

With the planned return of the annual ALAO conference to an in-person venue, there are potential opportunities to contribute and engage special collections and archives colleagues.

About SCAIG

The purpose of the Special Collections and Archives Interest Group is to provide a vehicle with which to discuss and disseminate issues and developments pertinent to special collections and archives in Ohio academic libraries.


If you are considering nominating yourself or a colleague and have questions, please contact us (Josh and Miriam). We're both happy to discuss the expectations of co-chairs, time commitments, and personal experiences. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who is looking for a chance to get more involved within the special collections/archives community, and the broader community of academic librarians.
