[Ohiodig] PDF text quality after ABBYY FineReader OCR verification

We've been using ABBYY FineReader for OCR verification. Recently, someone pointed out that the text in the resulting PDF is less crisp and hard to read. Has anyone dealt with this before? OCRing the PDF doesn't seem to be the problem. Verifying the text and saving it at that point seems to be where the issue arises.
