Subject: [Ohiodig] Seeking participants to test new digital collection user-upload tool


The Columbus Metropolitan Library is seeking institutions to participate in testing our Upload It tool. Upload It allows users to upload multiple images at once and add bulk or individual metadata, including title, description and even rights information using the Rights Statements,org framework. Data from the form will go in a holding area where it can be edited by librarians or project staff before being exported as a tab-delimited file. Once in a tab-delimited file, librarians will be able to import the images and metadata in to the digital collections software they use, such as CONTENTdm, Omeka or Islandora. The tool is intentionally built to be independent of digital collections software to allow for maximum adoptability among LAMs. CML developed Upload It using Laravel, an open source PHP web framework.



If you are interested in participating in testing, please contact Angela O’Neal at aoneal at columbuslibrary.org<mailto:aoneal at columbuslibrary.org> before June 3, 2020. Once testing is complete, we will share the code for other libraries and cultural heritage institutions to use.



LYRASIS, a nonprofit membership organization based in Atlanta, provided funding to support the development of Upload It through a Catalyst Fund Award of $25,000.
