Dear OhioDIGers,
With yesterday's email from Google that its Poly platform is shutting down in June 2021, I wondered what other folks are using to host 3D models?
We have only a few 3Ds online but do anticipate adding more (but not planning any large scale projects). We are using Poly with the 3D models embedded in our CONTENTdm record<https://media.library.ohio.edu/digital/collection/p15808coll19/search/searchterm/poly> for that item (compound object).
Sketchfab was allowing a free version with one 3D model a month, but they appear to have tightened the rules to allowing only individuals to use the free accounts (and they are quite specific)<https://help.sketchfab.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028370871-Choosing-the-right-Account-Type>.
Thanks! Janet

We're sending this note to let you know that, on June 30, 2021, the Poly website will be shutting down. The ability to upload 3D models on poly.google.com will be shut down on April 30, 2021.
What does this mean for you?
