Thank you for your past service as a judge for one of our Ohio History Day contests! As we enter into contest season, we need over 550 virtual judges across the state, and we hope that you'll be one of them!

We know the past eight months have been difficult as we to learn to live with and protect ourselves against COVID-19. To best protect our Ohio History Day (OHD) students, teachers, judges and families, all 2021 OHD Contests, including all ten (10) regionals and the State contest, will be conducted virtually. We would love to see you all in person, but until that time comes, we've created an engaging virtual opportunity for you all!

How Do I Sign Up?
The perk of a virtual contest means you can participate from the comfort of your home (and pajamas)! To sign up for one or more contests, follow these easy steps:

  1.  Next click the "Register Here" link. This will take you to that contests' registration site.

  1.  From there create a new account, answer a few questions, specify a category preference and we'll take it from there. No category preference, no problem! We'll find a category that needs your help.
How Does Virtual Judging Work?
Approximately one (1) week prior to your scheduled contest date, you'll receive an email detailing your judge assignments, category information and access to the virtual student entries. You'll also receive training on how to judge virtually using the new evaluation forms and contest rules. The day of the contest, judges will briefly meet with students for a virtual interview and then work with their judge team to rank the entries.

What Will I Need?
To be a virtual judge, you'll need: an email address, internet access (for accessing entries and providing feedback) and a webcam and microphone (for student interviews and consensus ranking within your team).
