The Schedule
In its second year, the Miami University Copyright Conference focuses on the intricacies of music copyright law. "Keeping the Beat: Copyright Law in Music" brings together legal experts, educators and other thought leaders for a first of its kind focus on an emerging topic. Session topics<https://t.e2ma.net/click/m6hbn/q9ih0j/uc4i3d> are intended to prepare conference participants to address music copyright issues at their institutions and include:
· Music Copyright Boot Camp: An in-depth look at the sections of U.S. copyright law that deal with music.
· Music Copyright Law Court Cases & Legislative Development: An overview of notable music copyright law court cases and recent legislative developments.
· Music Copyright & Libraries – Trends and Issues: Explore the specific ways in which music copyright law impacts libraries.
· Using Music on Campus – Licensing & Other Questions: Explore the many ways libraries and academic institutions use music on campus, including teaching, student recitals, entertainment, events and more.
· I Want to Get Paid! How do songwriters and musicians get paid for their creations? Learn about how songwriters and musicians can commercialize their creations and get paid for the works they create.
· Legislation Update: New legislation introduced to Congress proposes revisions to music copyright law. We will explore this legislation with an eye on how it may impact the services and resources we provide to members of our campus communities.
· Putting it All Together: An expert panel of presenters provides tips and recommendations on how conference participants can help address music copyright issues at their institution.

· Eric Harbeson - Assistant professor and music special collections librarian at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
· Nazareth "Naz" Pantaloni - Head of copyright programs at Indiana University Libraries.
· Carrie Russell - Director for the Program on Public Access to Information for the American Library Association's Office for Information Technology Policy (OITP).
· Jason Sloan - Assistant General Counsel at the U.S. Copyright Office.
· Maria Scheid - Copyright services specialist with copyright services at The Ohio State University Libraries.
· Ty Turley Trejo - Assistant direct of licensing for the copyright licensing office at Brigham Young University.
