Dear Colleagues,

November 10, the deadline to submit proposals for the Association for Computers and the Humanities (ACH) conference, is fast approaching! Have you sent in your proposal yet?

ACH is the U.S.-based constituent organization in the Alliance for Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO). Next summer, in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne University, and the University of Pittsburgh, ACH will host its conference in Pittsburgh, July 23-26, and we are eager for YOU to submit a proposal!

The deadline to submit a proposal: November 10, 2018
Proposal length: 250-500 words (suggested: 250-word proposals for individual submissions, 500-word proposals for multi-speaker submissions)

ACH and its partners believe in an “expansive definition of digital humanities in a broad array of subject areas, methods, and communities of practices.” We would appreciate and welcome contributions that affirm social justice in the use of technology as it’s applied for humanistic inquiry.

The canvas for engagement is broad—such as, but certainly not limited to, the following:

Computational and digital approaches to research and pedagogy;
Digital media, art, literature, history, music, film, and games;
Digital librarianship;
Digital humanities tools and infrastructures;
Humanistic research on digital objects and cultures;
Knowledge infrastructures;
Physical computing;
Resource creation, curation, and engagement;
Use of digital technologies to write, publish, and review scholarship.

Of particularly keen interest are proposals on “anti-racist, queer, postcolonial and decolonial, indigenous, Black studies, cultural and critical ethnic studies, and intersectional feminist interventions in digital studies.”  Interdisciplinary proposals are definitely welcome, and we hope for participants “with a range of expertise and from a variety of roles”—including alt-ac positions, non-higher education roles, and graduate students.
